Mr. Paul Levinsohn is an attorney who specializes in real estate and private equity transactions. He has been involved in numerous real estate projects throughout the New York metropolitan area. During the past ten years, Paul acquired and sold more than 200 commercial retail properties to public REITs and individuals. In addition, Paul’s experience extends to negotiating and obtaining funds for a wide range of real estate investments. In addition to his real estate career, Paul has conducted numerous private equity transactions.
In 2004, he and a group of investors obtained and privatized one of the largest convenience store and gas station chains in the northeast. The company, which was listed on the American Stock Exchange, operates 290 stores in three states. Paul sold his ownership stake in the company in early 2008. Recently, Paul and other investors purchased the assets of a New England-based nutritional supplement company that sells its products to major retail outlets like Wal-Mart, Walgreens, CVC and Vitamin Shoppe. In addition to his career in business and real estate, Paul has devoted much of his time to public service.
He was appointed Chief Counsel to the Governor of New Jersey in 2002 where he oversaw a staff of twenty-one attorneys, and coordinated all legal operations for the Governor’s Office. Between 1995 and 1997, Paul clerked for Judge Anne E. Thompson, U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. Paul also spent time before entering law school as a charter corps member of Teach for America, a nationwide teacher corps program that places teachers in rural and inner city schools.
During this time, Paul taught high-school American History in Warren County, North Carolina. Paul graduated from Duke University where he earned his undergraduate degree, J.D. and M.A. (political science). During law school, Paul was a member of the Duke Law Journal, and was appointed to the Duke University Board of Trustees for a three-year term.
